The main goal of todays ride was to visit Lake Argyle which is the center piece of the Ord River Scheme which I have mentioned in an earlier post. This side trip starts about 40km east of Kununnurra goes south. As you can see in the photos below I found some more interestung plants, this time with vivid orange flowers.
The Argyle road proved to be an interesting and scenic ride with lots of red rock hills and a couple of large (but mostly dry) rivers.
I have been to Lake Argyle a few times and always find it a surprise; there is just so much water in this otherwise very dry place. I took the usual tour of the dam, the picnic area downstream from the dam, and of course photos of the outflow from the hydro-electic plan at the base of the dam.
After the tour of the dam I visited the tourist park bar area to get lunch (a steak sanga) and finished off with a few photos of the camping area to remind Nina of what the place looks like. bar
Back on the Victoria Highway after te Argyle side trip I eventually found an informal camping ground and shared the night with a small number of RVs/Caravans and a lot of ducks (which I heard but did not see).
