The weather was clear with only light winds this morning, so I saddled up to repeat yesterdays hike sure that today would give me the views that I failed to find yesterday.

And I was not disappointed - about an hour down the trail I got my first sighting of the rock tower that is the (in)famous Cerro Torre all clear in the blue sky except for some wispy clouds around the summit. The sides of the pillar were caked in snow, plastered on, I assume, during yesterday and last nights storm. The winds in camp last night were very strong, at times hitting the Tiger like someone was pounding on the sides. It must have been simply brutal for any climbing parties up on those mountains/

The weather continued fine throughout the hike to and from Lago Torre and for most of the way I could see Cerro Torre. I also got a few glimpses of Fitzroy.

Back in town I met Nina at the trail head, to discover that she had walked up the trail about and hour to a lookout and so had also had a chance to see Cerro Torre.

Later in the afternoon we drove back down the highway to get a view of the entire Fitzroy range standing on the horizon behind the town of El Chalten.

By about 8:00 pm the clouds were returning and the wind rising promising that tomorrow would not be a day for viewing mountains. We were lucky to get a day of clear skies and pleased that we had been smart enough to take advantage of it.
